Jigsaw PSHE

How do we teach PSHE

At Burham Church of England Primary School we teach our PSHE through an exciting resource called 'Jigsaw'.

What is PSHE?
PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of children, preparing them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.

What is Jigsaw?
Jigsaw is a PSHE Education programme with a whole school approach, with all year groups working on the same theme (Puzzle) at the same time.

Jigsaw has two aims for all children:

  • To build their capacity for learning
  • To equip them for life

Jigsaw lessons are delivered once a week in each class. The children join in circle time activities and mindfulness training, they play inclusive, thought-provoking games and undertake tasks in order to complete Jigsaw pieces and puzzles.

We use Jigsaw mascots (each have their own name) and energy chimes - your child may talk about them!

If you would like to find out more information, please download the leaflet below:

Jigsaw is structured into 6 half-termly Puzzles with the whole school studying the same Puzzle at the same time.

The plan of what each year group covers throughout each 'puzzle' can be found in the Jigsaw Content Overview below.
